
Microsoft Word is the Office Suites Word Processor. Its proprietary DOC file format is considered a de facto standard, although Word 2007 can also use a new format called DOCX which has been standardized by Ecma International.
Word has a built-in spell checker, thesaurus, dictionary, Office Assistant and utilities for transferring, copy, pasting and editing text. Some other features that make Word a versatile program include:
- Word Art – enables drawing text in a Microsoft Word document such as a title, watermark, or other text, with graphical effects such as skewing, shadowing, rotating, stretching in a variety of shapes and colors and even including three-dimensional effects
- Creating Tables – Tables within
Word can be set to perform calculations, formula and other automated tasks.
- Macros – Word files can include advanced macros and even embedded programs, making application capabilities far in advance of a standard user.
